Kayla works as a staff pharmacist stationed in Coleman, Florida which provides care to an underserved population. Dr Clare was recently commissioned as a Lieutenant in the US Public Health Service, a uniformed service of the military that responds to disasters and disease outbreaks, nationally and internationally.
Born in Queens, New York, the 24-year old is a graduate of the Hampton University School of Pharmacy in Virginia, always had a passion to serve and is looking forward to participating in medical missions. Her current job has her working in a federal prison where she is not only involved in dispensing medications but also counseling inmates and participating in disease management clinics.
Her long-term goal is to open pharmacies in parts of the world where healthcare is limited, first among which is Jamaica the birthplace of her parents’ Karen and Irwine Clare. Kayla’s passion to serve and her dedication to Jamaica should come as no surprise as the name Irwine Clare her father is popularly associated with Team Jamaica Bickle which provides a ‘home away from home’ through sponsorship, hospitality and nourishment for Jamaican teams participating in the annual Penn Relays.
