JAMAICAN ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON PIONEERS REVOLUTIONARY SURGERY

Dr. Steven Marchalleck

Jamaican orthopaedic surgeon , Dr Steven Marchalleck recently helped to create medical  history in Australia when he successfully undertook one of the first computer-guided orthopaedic surgeries.

The revolutionary surgery uses Computer-Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery  (CAOS) technology, enabling more accurate insertion of the shoulder replacement components. The new technology will benefit patients by allowing for more customized procedures, longer lasting joints and less need for revision after surgery.

Dr Marchalleck has impressive credentials, with double Bachelors Degrees before graduating with honours with an MBBS from the University of New South Wales in Australia. He is a fellow of the Royal Australisian College of Surgeons and specializes in hand, wrist and upper limb surgery.

Dr Steven Marchalleck is a native of St Thomas and attended Morant Bay High School in the parish and Campion College in Kingston. He is the son of well-known businessman, Paul Marchalleck J.P.
